As it was going to be very hot in the afternoon I was taken on an early morning stroll to find some green grass to stretch my paws on. Not far from the exit to the Lymington Yacht Haven is the Bath Road Recreation Ground - a lovely open space with a quaint band stand and pond. Due to the heatwave and drought the grass was a little crispy but I had a great run around off my lead. I'm okay with my recall but it is an unenclosed area with a road running along one side which might not suit other dogs.
We wandered back to the boat and set sail for a day trip to Newtown Creek as a part of a rally. I wore my lovely cooling jacket under my lifejacket to keep cool and even tried on my UV protecting goggles for the first time - but not quite for me!
After a gentle sail to Newtown Creek and anchoring within the creek, we took a dinghy to shore. As a National Trust Conservation area dogs must be kept on a lead at all times to protect the wildlife. We walked along the pebble beach looking out at the shipping in the Solent before turning back to where the rally had set up a little BBQ on the bit of sandy beach.
Back onboard shade canopies were constructed out of beach towels and we all relaxed in the warm sun. Eventually we sailed back to Lymington for a pontoon party with the other rally attendees and a lovely dinner on board.
